Trane Furnace and Air Conditioning Ratings for Denver,CO.

If you used a search engine to find this site using any of these terms, Trane gas furnace, Trane gas furnaces, Trane gas furnace prices, furnace prices, boiler troubleshooting, Trane air conditioning, Trane central air conditioning, Trane central air conditioners, central air conditioning, central air conditioners, air conditioner, furnace troubleshooting, problems with boilers, problems with furnaces, problems with air conditioning, problems with central air conditioners, problems with central air conditioning, furnace pricing, Trane furnace pricing, H.V.A.C. prices, H.V.A.C. pricing, heating and air conditioning, central heating and air conditioning systems, home heating and air conditioning systems, you may be looking for information on Efficiencies, ratings, A.F.U.E. or S.E.E.R., or pricing for heating and cooling equipment. If you are trying to find pricing for furnaces or central air conditioning let us explain why we can't give prices on a web site. We CAN say it is possible to put in the smallest XB 80 gas furnace in a basement situation with out any sheet metal, gas line or electrical work for about $1,000.00. Maybe this will help if you are trying to get a ball park estimate, but read further on!

Right up front, let us say we know you are surfing the web in order to make a decision based on facts and prices to name only a couple of reasons. So are our competitors! We won't post our prices because of this as our number one reason. But it doesn't stop there.

Every home or building is different and requires an on site evaluation to be able to give an accurate estimate. We NEVER  charge for these estimates! The next thing that comes into play is the equipment, efficiency rating, size, brand and warranty are just a few factors that will make the estimate higher or lower. You can always find a company or a handyman to install equipment somewhere. Because he has a low overhead situation he may offer a cheaper price. More often than not, however, he will be selling inferior equipment and may be doing inferior work. He may also not be licensed or insured and if that is the case, there is NO WAY he will be getting a Permit to do the work, and he certainly won't be selling TRANE! Later when there is a problem, try locating him! We run into this all the time. Also we don't attempt to post prices because the manufacturers change their prices often, giving special prices to us every so often which will make OUR prices change often. The season we are in will change these prices also! Estimate We have learned over the years in this business how to strike a good balance between providing high quality equipment and low overhead which results in us getting over 80% of the jobs we bid. Of course we can supply references for you.

Furnace Ratings.

The lowest priced models  have efficiencies of 80% while the XV90 has a 92% rating with a (2) stage gas section capable of heating your home or  building on low fire ( runs about 95% of the time on low fire!) rather than wasting twice as much fuel as with most furnaces on the market today. It also has a variable speed blower motor to keep a more even temperature in your home, while being extremely quiet. The 90% furnaces have a lifetime warranty on the heat exchanger. All furnace cabinets are made of  heavy gauge steel.

As with air conditioners, furnaces also have a system of rating their operating efficiencies. It is referred to as A.F.U.E. ( Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency ) For the most part, today's furnaces are between 80% and 94% efficient. By replacing a 20 year old furnace you can really save big money on your fuel bills. As with air conditioners, the higher the rating the warranty usually gets better. We have pictures and descriptions of the newest Trane furnaces with a whole lot of great features below. As you will see, Trane has more choices than other manufacturers so you can tailor your heating and cooling  to your needs.

As you may already know if you have done business with Sheridan Mechanical Services in the past, we love Trane equipment. The reasons are many but include these. Once we put in a Trane we NEVER see the client again, not that we don't want to but not under call back conditions! We pride ourselves on being the best service company you can call in the Denver, Colorado area. Why would we want to sell anything that is less than the very best? We get so much referral business from clients passing our name on to others that we can't afford to sell any thing BUT Trane. This is not a sales pitch, it is fact.

Trane's top of the line 80% furnace. All the features of the XL80 above, but with a variable speed blower motor and more! This variable speed motor will get rid of that "blast" of cold air each time the furnace starts and helps de-humidify better during the cooling season if you have air conditioning. Also if you have poor air flow to certain rooms of the home this variable speed motor will operate more efficiently than ordinary multi speed motors because it has the ability to "ramp" up or down with changing conditions.

  • 2  stage heating.

  • Variable speed blower motor, gently warms the air instead of getting that blast of cold air on each cycle. This feature also de-humidifies much better in the cooling season.

  • Comfort-R TM Mode ( Enhanced Humidity Control ).

  • Super efficient air purification mode.

  • Factory wired for optional humidistat to be used in the cooling mode.

  • 2 speed draft inducer motor.

  • Adjustable heating fan "Off" timing.

  • Slow opening gas valve ( makes for quiet operation ).

  • Adaptive Hot Surface Silicon Nitride Ignitor ( longer lasting than a Silicone Carbide Ignitor ).

  • Insulated blower compartment with automotive grade gaskets ( keeps the heat you paid to make within the furnace ). Also quiets the system.

  • Dual door latches on upflow models only. This new easy open door makes filter changing or cleaning a snap!

  • Hinged filter door filter access.

  • Cleanable filter lets you clean your filter instead of replacing it.

  • Adjustable filter rack lets you use odd size filters if you wish.

  • Attractive two tone paint.

  • 20 year non-prorated limited heat exchanger warranty.

  • 5 years limited warranty on all internal functional parts.

Below is a diagram of what the Variable Speed Blower does and why it will make your home so much more comfortable.

Instead of starting your blower when the furnace temperature hits about 150 degrees, the variable speed furnaces start the blower at 50% of it's capacity AS SOON as the burners light. As shown below, it " ramps up " slowly until the ductwork is hot, then it will go to it's full capacity! No more blasts of cold air into the room!

Our standard labor warranty is (1) year with options for up to (10) years!

XB90

Trane's lowest priced 90% furnace ( Replaces the XE90 ). All the 90% furnaces use a plastic flue pipe which runs horizontally out the sidewall of your home, in place of the usual metal flue you are used to on most furnaces. How is it possible to use plastic for a hot flue pipe? These furnaces have (2) heat exchangers instead of one like most furnaces. The second heat exchanger takes the heat that usually goes up the flue and captures it and blows this back into your home instead. These furnaces are referred to as condensing furnaces because they remove so much heat from the flue that moisture condenses from this which is then run to a floor drain or condensate pump. The result is a loss up the flue of about 8% instead of 20% as with an 80% furnace. If you have a 20 year old furnace it is more than likely you are losing about 50% of the heat you paid to make right up the flue. Since a 90% furnace only loses about 8% up the flue we can install a much smaller furnace for you. This saves (3) ways.

  • Installing a smaller B.T.U.H. input furnace burns less total gas per hour.

  • The smaller size is less expensive to install initially.

  • You lose 8% up the flue instead of 50% as with your old furnace.

So if you have been saying " It's too expensive to put a new furnace in " sit down and do the math over a few years. Also remember fuel prices go up, not down.

  • Single stage heating operation.

  • Multi port in shot burners ( similar to fuel injection in an automobile ).

  • Silicone Carbide Hot Surface Ignitor ( gets rid of a pilot light ).

  • Diagnostic window in blower door.

  • Lifetime limited heat exchanger warranty.

  • 5 years limited warranty on all internal functional parts.

Ratings for central air conditioning.

Since about 1990 the government has developed a simple rating system for consumers to judge the efficiency of air conditioners. All new air conditioners come with a rated S.E.E.R. ( Seasonal Electrical Efficiency Rating ). The higher this number, the lower it's operating cost will be. As a guide you can say that if a 20 year old unit had a rating of  7 S.E.E.R. and you installed a system with a 14 S.E.E.R. you would cut your electrical usage on air conditioning by half! This is assuming your ductwork and blower is the correct size and that you change the indoor evaporator coil to match the new unit. Obviously, in Tucson, Arizona this will pay back the extra cost quickly. In Alaska it would take many years to realize a pay back. Also generally speaking, the higher the efficiency, the better the warranty will be also. The lowest available rating today is 10 S.E.E.R.

The XB10 received the Consumer's Digest Best Buy Award in 2003.

(R-22 refrigerant) 10 S.E.E.R.

Trane has a line of builders model central air conditioners. One of these may fit your budget if you are moving from your home soon and aren't interested in the highest efficiency and longest warranties available! They all use Trane's " Climatuff " compressor with a 5 year all parts warranty. They have a 10 S.E.E.R. rating. Call us for a free quote!

12 S.E.E.R.

Pictured to the left is a Trane XR 1200 air conditioner. They  carry a (10) year compressor and coil plus (5) years all other parts warranty. They are available in R 22 refrigerant or 410A refrigerant. To read about what 410A is click here. The new 410A Refrigerant

XL13i

Trane's newest idea. A 13 S.E.E.R. air conditioner so advanced it is built using a unique finned cabinet that dismantles in a couple of minutes for coil cleaning. Something all service techs. will appreciate. This unit uses the newest 410A refrigerant which is more friendly to our environment and the air we all breathe. To read about what 410A is click here. The new 410A Refrigerant  And talk about tough! The new space age material used to make some cabinet parts can support a vehicle. And this unit carries a ( 10 ) year warranty on all parts, not just the compressor and coil !

Our standard labor warranty is (1) year with options for up to (10) years!

EVAPORATOR COIL

Evaporator Coil

Whenever an air conditioner is changed the evaporator coil should be changed to get the published efficiency of the outdoor unit. When installing a 10 S.E.E.R. air conditioner this isn't quite as critical but you still won't get a true 10 S.E.E.R. unless you change the coil. In the case of the new 410A refrigerant this coil MUST be changed.  All service techs. will love the refrigerant taps at the coil a feature which will save time and money evaluating your cooling system. Also as shown the coil is much more serviceable to cleaning than the old models, another big money saver on a service call!

Worth mentioning here also is when a 410A system is installed as a replacement, the refrigerant lines need to be changed also. This is because any contaminants in the refrigerant lines as well as any of the old type oil won't be compatible with the 410A refrigerant and new oil. To read about what 410A is click here. The new 410A Refrigerant

Whenever a 12 S.E.E.R. and higher air conditioner is installed a T.X.V. ( Thermal Expansion Valve ) coil must be used or you won't get the high S.E.E.R. rating you paid for! Beware, there are many companies out there that put in 10 S.E.E.R. coils because they are cheaper to buy! Make the company put in writing what coil they are installing. We get beat on some jobs just because we were slightly higher since we were installing the T.X.V. coil and our competitor was not.

XL14i

Pictured above is a Trane XL14i air conditioning unit.

  • Compressor insulation blanket .

  • Two speed fan motor, for quiet and economical operation.

  • Spiney finned condenser coil is extremely efficient . Coil has a 10 year warranty.

  • Powder coat paint ( automotive grade finish ).

  • Louvered coil protection to keep lawn equipment or children from hurting the coil.

  • Discharges air from the sides rather than the top, keeping debris out of the unit.

  • 10 year warranty on all other parts in this unit.

  • Trane uses porcelain plated screws on it's cabinet, so there will be no unsightly rusted screws 3 years down the road.

The newest addition to the line is the (2) stage XL16i pictured above. There is much to read about this exciting new technology, as such we have devoted a separate page for it.

XL19i

The XL19i is similar in looks to the XL14i pictured above. It is much larger in size however.

  • Trane's 19.5 S.E.E.R. unit has (2) " Climatuff"  compressors inside. If the outdoor temperature is at a certain point only the smallest compressor will come on, dramatically reducing your electric bill! If you are planning on staying in your home or building for several years, let us show you how these high efficient air conditioners or heat pumps, will be cheaper to buy in the long run than so called cheaper units! We will have to change the evaporator coil to a special coil which is made especially for this unit as well as your thermostat and possibly the thermostat wiring to the furnace and out door unit to take advantage of these features. Be advised that even Trane dealers have to get special training to even be able to buy these units! Some Trane dealers have told our clients that a regular  coil will work-"it will not".  A Trane Variable Speed Furnace MUST be used with these units! These changes makes these units the most expensive on the market but the pay backs are huge. Please give us a call to discuss all the ramifications as this is a major decision for any home owner!

  • These units use R-22 refrigerant. It is NOT available in 410A. To read about what 410A is click here. The new 410A Refrigerant

Inside the Trane " Climatuff " compressor.

Trane Compressors

Trane Heating & Air Conditioning is without a doubt, the best, longest lasting equipment that a consumer can purchase. We have been installing Trane equipment for over 10 years with almost NO call backs from equipment failure. In 24 years of doing service work we have only changed (4) Trane air conditioning compressors. Of these (4) we can honestly say that only (1) was from actual compressor failure. This (1) failure was on a unit that was 26 years old! However, we have changed all other manufacturers compressors countless of times.

Trane had a compressor in their lab which they affectionately named " Snowball ". This compressor ran an incredible 27 years , 24 hours a day , 7 days a week while frozen solid! It logged the equivalent running time of an automobile traveling 60 - 70 m.p.h. and about 14 million miles. ASK TRANE'S COMPETITORS IF THEY HAVE ANYTHING LIKE THAT TO TELL YOU ABOUT! We keep copies of an article about this if you would like to see it. Our installers sometimes complain to us because the equipment from Trane is heavy. This should tell you something in itself!

Trane heat pumps.  Trane heat pumps are of the same high quality as their air conditioners. They look pretty much the same as the different air conditioners pictured above. The ratings and warranty are the same as for the air conditioners. The difference between the two is that a heat pump can heat your home or building as well as cool it.

Package units. ( not pictured )

If your building has a package unit ( furnace and air conditioner is combined ) Trane has you covered with gas/electric, heat pump and dual fuel models with varying efficiencies and warrantees available. These units are found usually in commercial roof top applications, but are sometimes found out side of homes.

Trane thermostats and Electronic Whole House Air Cleaners.

We sell Trane brand thermostats and electronic air cleaners because they are the best thermostats and air cleaners on the market. Their thermostat models range from inexpensive to Electronic models that will change the temperature automatically for you even if you aren't home. They can save you big money on your utility bills, as well as make your home more comfortable. The electronic air cleaners will clean the air in your home to around 95% pure!

H.V.A.C.  prices.

Asking a H.V.A.C. Contractor how much heating and cooling equipment costs are is like asking a car salesman how much a car costs! As with vehicles, heating and air conditioning costs depend on the efficiency ratings, size, warranty, quality of the brand, noise levels, cabinets ( enclosures ) and a host of other things. A good Contractor should be willing to set up an appointment to review these things with you.
